Reunions

My uncle Sonny passed away last week at the age of 72. A businessman, Korean War Veteran and beach lover, Sonny was one of those family members you always had stories about.

One of my favorites was a Christmas, probably 10 or so years ago. My sister and I opened cards from my grandmother, expecting our routine Christmas checks, only to find nothing. ​

​We all thought she had lost her mind, until we saw Sonny, laughing to himself in the corner, proud of the prank he had played.

Funerals are always sad, but I'm thankful that I had the opportunity to reunite with family this weekend, some of them I haven't seen in more than a decade. ​
