Learning Experience Design

Weekly Review | W35 2016

What a week! It was a little hectic around here.

I'm working on my Masters in Instructional Design Technology. In a perfect firestorm of events, my MacBook Pro suddenly decided not to turn on as I began to organize my assignments for the semester. Thank God for Time Capsule and Backblaze. Without them, I would have lost all of my data. If you don't have a backup, please invest in one. I pay something like $50 a year for offsite backups with Backblaze. This weekend proved that it's worth every penny.

Get a backup!

The VMAs also proved to me that I'm old and crabby. Seriously. Beyonce was great. Britney was terrible. There. I said it.

I've been working on cooking at home and sticking to a budget at Whole Foods. This is a go-to classic. Baked chicken, salad and the delicious shells and alfredo from a box. Making my home a sanctuary has helped me adjust to life away from my family here in Nashville. Speaking of which...West Elm has had some fantastic sales lately.

I've had my eye on this chair for months and picked it up for half price this week! Can't wait for those long study sessions in comfort.

During my weekly Target run, I uncovered one of my elusive favorites. Dark chocolate Kit-Kats. Halloween is almost here! I bought our Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party tickets as well!

Break me off a piece...

Finally, as classes have started back, I've committed to actually reading more. The photo below is one of my assigned readings and I love it so far because it's connected so well to the work I'm doing at Lyft. Finding meaning is truly important.

Work/Life balance.
